MadCAP Performance Ensembles

What is a MadCAP Performance Ensemble?

MadCAP provides opportunities for people of all ages to work with teaching artists in the studio and on the stage.  During the school year, students participate in Ensembles that provide broad, sequential instruction challenging each student to realize his or her highest level of artistic potential. MadCAP’s Ensemble approach to the teaching and learning of music and theatre is unique. Ensembles are open enrollment so that all people may find a place to develop their talents regardless of their experience.

MORE INFORMATION

At MadCAP, professional teaching artists work as a team to guide an “ensemble” of students in producing, rehearsing and performing in plays, musicals and concerts. MadCAP projects are designed to encourage students to develop their talents in the context of a community of supportive adult teaching artists.  MadCAP is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.  As a member, MadCAP follows the Guild ‘Code of Best Practices.’   MadCAP offers broad, sequential programming that challenges each student to realize his/her highest level of artistic potential.

Other notes about joining an Ensemble

Commitment to the Ensemble

·        Registration in a MadCAP Performance Ensemble implies a commitment to the Ensemble for the entire rehearsal period and performances.

·        Please note any conflicts when you register. When Ensemble members miss rehearsal, it prevents the rest of the Ensemble from moving forward. Each student may have a maximum of 2 unexcused absences through the rehearsal process. Additional absences may result in the need to recast a student’s part in the major project.

Rehearsal Clothing and Costuming

·        Ensemble members must to be attired for movement and comfort when attending rehearsals.  Please wear loose fitting knit clothing that allows freedom of movement. Each Ensemble member must have an appropriate pair of shoes for dance or movement.  Black jazz dance shoes are recommended and available at dancewear shops in town or at www.discountdancesupply.com.
