Summer Policy Handbook

Welcome to MadCAP!

Dear friends,

As I sit in my office working on our preparations for the summer, the snow softly falls.  Although I love snowshoeing and other winter sports, I find my mind drifting to summer fun. We are busy planning many exciting projects for MadCAP’s summer program.  I can hardly wait.  Don’t miss the thrilling rehearsal process and production of James DeVita’s Wonderland in July!  We’ll also be featuring two Disney musicals (Sleeping Beauty and The Aristocats), and a daring production of MacBeth.

MadCAP’s mission is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to work in creatively challenging projects that  inspire and nurture talents in the performing arts. During MadCAP’s Summer School of the Arts, MadCAP artists foster a spirit of mutual support amongst all of our performers from the youngest to the oldest.  A kind and respectful atmosphere is the expectation and the “norm” in our rehearsal studios and beyond as we help artists of all ages develop their craft in a community of supportive staff and fellow performers.

I can’t wait to start working with all of you!

Kjerstie Johanson, Artistic Director

MadCAP's Mission

MadCAP's School of the Performing Arts provides opportunities for all young people to work with professional teaching artists in creatively challenging programs that encourage young people to realize their highest level of artistic potential.

MadCAP is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.

In keeping with the Guild's Code of Best Practices, MadCAP's School of the Arts offers broad, sequential programming that is responsive to community

needs and reflects our mission.  We strive to challenge each student to realize

his/her highest level of artistic potential by affording students the opportunity

to participate in programs that culminate in performances, presentations, or recitals. Instruction is sequential and students have an opportunity to advance as they develop their skills and talents in the performing arts.  MadCAP engages a qualified faculty of professional teaching artists.  MadCAP's studio and performance spaces are well suited and appropriately equipped for instruction and performance. MadCAP is open to all students without regard to race, creed, ethnic background, physical or mental disability or income level. Tuition fees are waived or pro-rated based on the US Government’s Housing and Urban Development poverty guidelines.
