A note to parents about
auditioning for Theatre for Young Audiences Productions:
MadCAP's Theatre for Young Audience productions include casts of adults and
young people cast in age appropriate roles. Unlike MadCAP's School of
the Arts Program - auditioning does not guarantee a part in the production.
There is no fee for participating as a cast member in a TYA production, but
volunteerism and help with ticket sales & promotion is strongly encouraged.
Auditions
for School of the Arts Productions:
Theatre productions that are part of MadCAP's School of the Arts are OPEN
ENROLLMENT. Everyone
gets a
part, and every part is important to making the
whole
production great. During the school year, each of the Performance Ensembles
rehearses choral pieces and a production to perform at the Bartell Theatre.
Performances take place in December, February and May. To enroll in a
performance ensemble, go to
School of
the Arts webpage.
Auditions are a way for us to get to know
you, to find out how experienced you are, and to try to balance the cast so
everyone has parts that are both challenging and fun for them. We
don’t expect you to be perfect;
after all, the focus is on
learning about theatre in the most exciting
way possible
– by doing it!
Auditions are used to make specific casting decisions for the
production. All participants who meet the age requirement and attend
an audition will be cast regardless of ability or prior experience.
Auditions will take place at 100 N. Hamilton.
