please call for a placement audition.
More Details about Auditioning:
Theatre productions that are part of MadCAP's School of the Arts are OPEN
ENROLLMENT.
Everyone
who
participates gets a part
and every part is important to making the
whole
play great.
Auditions are a way for us to get to know you, to find
out how experienced you are, and to try to balance the cast so everyone has
parts that are both challenging and fun for them. We don’t expect you to be
perfect;
after all, the focus is on
learning about theatre in the most exciting
way possible –
by doing it!
ONLY INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR STUDENTS NEED TO AUDITION FOR ROLES IN MAY.
Beginning and Junior students audition on the first or second day of their
rehearsal period during the summer.
Auditions are used to make specific casting decisions for the production. All
participants who meet the age requirement and attend an audition are
cast regardless of ability or prior experience.
Auditions will take place at 100 N. Hamilton.
Students who have finished third grade, fifth or
sixth grade may audition for advanced placement in the next level of
programming. It is recommended that students new to MadCAP participate
in the recommended level for their grade. However, students who have
previously participated in a fully staged theatre production have the
opportunity to advance to the next level by auditioning before the program
begins. For example third grade students may audition to participate
in the Junior level. Fifth grade students may audition to participate
in the Intermediate level and sixth grade students may audition to
participate in the Senior level. When students are accepted into the more
advanced levels, they should understand that it is most likely that they
will receive smaller roles than the more advanced students in the higher
level. If a student is seeking more experience with speaking roles,
then remaining in the grade appropriate level is recommended. Theatre is a
community experience and students at MadCAP learn to work with other
students of all ages, experience, talents and backgrounds.
