Session I: June 18-30

Go Fish

John Jacobsen & John Higgins

Jillian Plane, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades K-2

Rehearses 8:30-12, optional Techniques & Research session 1-4:30

Please join me in welcoming a former MadCAP favorite to the stage, GO FISH!  This colorful cast is filled

with a Tuna Fish that can't carry a tune? A Star Fish that can't get an acting job? A seven-legged Octopus? A

Zebra Fish with spots? Join in the aquatic fun as little Tiger Shark and his unique collection of friends

discover how their differences make them each special. Songs include Oceans of Fun!, We're Sharks!, Commotion

in the Ocean, Roundup in the Sea, The Colors of the Sea

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the musical

John Jacobsen & Audrey Snyder

Paul Milisch, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades 3-5

Rehearses 1-4:30, optional Techniques & Research session 8:30-12 noon

Be transported to a land of kings and queens, fairies and nymphs, music and madrigal, and most of all,

trickery and love! Young performers can now experience the work of William Shakespeare in this fresh

rendition of his classic play. The production features eight original songs in a variety of musical styles,

from madrigal to rap, and we’ll spend some time with the Shakespeare text as well!

Don’t Stop Believin’

Craig Sodaro & Bill Franceour

Kjerstie Johanson, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades 6-10

Rehearses 1-4:30, optional Techniques & Research session 8:30-12 noon

It’s time to get your gleek on!  The Ethel Lampert Community Center has seen better days and may soon see its

final days unless the teens, volunteers and staff find a way to save it.  Some sleazy city council members

want to bulldoze the place to redevelop and commercialize the neighborhood and bring them gobs of sales tax

revenue, but that’s not stopping the teens who frequent the community center.  From basketball players to

computer nerds to artists, these down-on-their-luck inner-city kids have no place else to go, and losing the

center would mean losing their home away from home.  When they hear of a new television reality contest for

glee clubs, they decide to form their own and try out.  If they win top prize, they’ll earn enough money to

keep the center open.  But working together doesn’t come naturally for these tough, independent teens, and

they’re not sure they’ll be able to pull it off, especially with a city council that’s bribing the

egotistical celebrity judges, an annoyed (and annoying!)  neighbor harping on them at every turn and a

history of no one believing in them.  Bursting with large, rock and pop chorus numbers and a powerful,

anthemic finale, this energetic, contemporary musical will bring out the gleek in everyone!

Session II: July 9-20

Pirates! The musical

John Jacobsen & Roger Emerson

Jillian Plane, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades K-3

Rehearses 8:30-12, optional Techniques & Research session 1-4:30

"We're off to sail the rollicking sea, pirates all are we!" But Arrrr! and Shiver me timbers! There's a

stowaway on board! Perhaps the King of the High C's will know what to do." Join the salty crew of colorful

scallywags when Bluebeard, Yellowbeard, Whitebeard, Purplebeard - well, you get the picture - along with the

No Beards, hoist the Jolly Roger and set sail for a mighty adventure!

Treasure Island

Mary Donnelly & George Strid

Paul Milisch, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades 3-6

Rehearses 1-4:30, optional Techniques & Research session 8:30-12 noon

Young Jim Hawkins longs for adventure and finds it in this classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale of pirates,

pigaloos and buried treasure. This adaptation features an expanded script and eight original songs.  Step

back in time and share an adventure with Jim, Bill Bones, Long John Silver and a host of interesting

characters!

Chocolate Soup

Matt Corriel & Jill Jaysen

Kjerstie Johanson, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades 7-12

*This program requires enrollment in sessions II and III.

Rehearses 1-4:30, optional Techniques & Research session 8:30-12 noon

Chocolate Soup deals with the challenges of being a tween when feelings about who you are and what you

believe in can be on shaky ground. Mia has her great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother's ancient

family recipe for Aztec Chocolate Soup. Her popular friends, the Excessives, scheme to alter the soup for

their big party, making it more "extreme." The not-so-popular Extras, who are mistreated by the Excessives,

channel their desire for acceptance into saving the polar bears as Justin, Mia's self-confident neighbor

whose dad heads up his company's new Eco-Imagination campaign, shakes up everyone's ideas about what really

matters. Their food for thought turns to such serious issues as global warming, world hunger, and human

rights. Justin persuades Mia that protesting at the mall is cooler than going to the Excessives' blowout

party.   This show is written by Matt Corriel, who also wrote such favorites as Intervention and Middle

School Madness.

Session III: July 23-August 3

The Granny Awards

Janet Gardner

Jillian Plane, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades K-3

Rehearses 8:30-12, optional Techniques & Research session 1-4:30

Tonight's the night we've all been waiting for! Granny, who has retired from show business, will be honoring

all of our favorite fairy tale characters! Who will win Best Female Vocalist? Best Male Vocalist? Best

Dramatic Scene? Best Choreography? Best Rap? And the most coveted Best Villain Award? Tune in to see and hear

your favorite performers! And don't forget to keep an eye on that nasty Big Bad Wolf, as he tries to steal

the treasured Granny Award during the show.

Harmony High

John Jacobsen & Mac Huff

Paul Milisch, Lead Teacher

For students currently in grades 3-6

Rehearses 1-4:30, optional Techniques & Research session 8:30-12 noon

It's the first day of school, and new students Michael, Michele and Junior are about to discover what the

singing is all about. The principal loves to vocalize and everyone's a winner in Jim the gym teacher's gym.

The classical cooks of the cafeteria are always ready to dine, the whacky science class is really rockin' and

the students in detention are even singing (the blues that is).  Songs include: Gotta Get to Class; Harmony

High; Learn It with a Song; Gym Class; Cooks of the Cafeteria; The In-School Detention Blues; The Lab Rat

Rock; and Life Is a Beautiful Song.
